Vegetable base thick soup

Pumpkin base Veg Soup

Soup can be prepared with any one of these vegetables as base: Ash Gourd, Bottle Gourd, Pumpkin, Snake Gourd and Chayote (Chow Chow).

Ingredients (for 2 people):
  1. Vegetable of your choice for base - 500 grams
  2. Vegetables for toppings - carrot, beans, capsicum, green peas  all together 200 grams
  3. Ginger - small piece
  4. Green chilly - as per taste
  5. Tomato - 1 small/ medium size
  6. Chopped coriander leaves - 2 teaspoons 
  7. Fresh Coconut milk - 200 ml
  8. Pepper powder - as per taste 
  9. Salt - as per taste

Base preparation:
  1. Wash the vegetable for base thoroughly and cut into big pieces. 
  2. Take an idli steamer and steam the base vegetable, ginger and green chilly.
  3. Once the vegetable is cooked, transfer it to the wide plate and let it cool including ginger & chilly.
  4. When it becomes cool, use mixer grinder and make paste and keep it aside.
Toppings preparation:
  1. Chop the vegetables for toppings into small pieces and steam using idli pot. 
  2. Transfer the vegetables to a pan. Add little salt and pepper powder and mix all.
  3. Cover the pan with lid immediately so that vegetables can absorb the salt and pepper. 
  4. Similarly steam chopped tomato as well in steamer for 2 minutes and transfer it to pan.
Soup mixing process:
  1. Transfer the base vegetable's paste to the pan of toppings vegetables.
  2. Add little water and heat it up for few minutes and turn-off the stove. 
  3. Add Coconut milk and stir well. 
  4. Add chopped coriander leaves and salt. 
  5. Soup is ready to serve.
  1. Extract the Coconut milk while the vegetables are steamed.
  2. You can add extra coconut milk, pepper powder and adjust the taste at final stage.

  1. Any vegetable(s) of your choice - 500gms
  2. Pumpkin - 300gms
  3. Coconut gratings - 1 cup
  4. Cilantro / Coriander leaves - 1 cup
  5. Curry leaves - 1 spring
  6. Cumin seeds - 1 table spoon
  7. Black pepper - as per taste
  8. Rock salt - as per taste

Optional Ingredients:

  1. Ginger - 1 inch cube
  2. Green Chili - 4 nos
  3. Sprouts - 100gms
  4. Tomato - 50gms

இந்த வலைப்பதிவைத் தொடர்ந்து படித்து வரும் அன்பர்கள் ஒரு சிலருக்கு இயற்கை வாழ்வியலுக்கு மாறவேண்டும் எனும் விருப்பம் எழலாம். அவ்வாறு ஒருவேளை விருப்பம் இருந்தாலும், இங்குத் தரப்பட்டுள்ள உணவு முறைகளை உடனடியாக முழுமையாகப் பின்பற்ற ஒரு சிலருக்கு இயலாமல் போகலாம். மாற்றத்தை எங்கிருந்துத் தொடங்குவது என்ற சந்தேகம் எழலாம். காலம் காலமாக நம் சமுதாயத்தில் நடைமுறையில் இருக்கும் பழக்கவழக்கங்களை திடீரென்று மாற்றுவது அத்தனை சுலபமாக அனைவருக்கும் இருக்காது.

End of Log:
It's been an year since we started this food log and this is the last one. As we have covered most of the combinations and varieties, we would like to stop it here. We hope that this series will give an idea to a new Life Natural practitioner on Life Natural diet.  Thanks to all followers of this log for your encouragement, feedback and critics in this interesting journey.

This week's food log with infrequent combinations and varieties are featured below. In log 25 we have decided to stop capturing usual items. Please visit our previous logs if you would like to see all.
